Inspection
No inspection is required to import a used vehicle in South Korea.
Left-Hand Drive Vehicles:
Importation of left hand drive vehicles is allowed in South Korea. It is not allowed to import Japanese cars in South Korea.
Only small and medium sized vehicles may be imported

Proof of Insurance (Either an Original or a Copy of the Policy)
An Inventory of Vehicle’s Technical Specifications (what type of fuel – petrol or diesel, etc.)
Duties and rates on vehicles:
A car being imported into South Korea must clear customs. The car must be recognised by customs as part of the moving cargo. Duty is charged on both new and used vehicles. The Korean Customs Service should be contacted for more precise details on the duty to be paid.
Inspection on a used vehicle:
If the owner has been in South Korea longer than 6 months, the car is classified as not being part of household goods and must undergo the following examinations after clearing customs:
A noise and vibration inspection
A vehicle type and model approval, which is carried out by the Korea Automobile Test and Research Institute
