Shipping Ports:
The major shipping ports in Sierra Leone Leone are Port of Freetown, Port of Pepel. RoRo (Roll-on, Roll-off), is the most common method of vehicle shipment in the country. However, there is container method which is expensive yet safe and is arranged upon customers request.
Left-Hand Drive Vehicles:
Importation of only left-hand drive vehicles is allowed in the country.
Age Restriction:
Sierra Leone has no age limitation on used imported vehicles and offers no compulsory inspection.
Documents Required:
- Original certificate of title and registration
- Original Commercial or Purchase Invoice
- Driving license and International Insurance Policy (Green Card)
- Residence Permit
- Original Bill of Lading: Registration number, Chassis and Engine number, Cubic capacity, year of manufacture, brand and model.
- Exemption Form (diplomats)
Import duty on vehicles:
- Vehicles up to 4 years old – 5%
- Vehicles between 4-10 years old – 20%
- Older than 10 years old – 30%
