Right Hand Drive Vehicles:

Importation of right-hand drive vehicles is permitted in the country.

Age Restriction:

No age restriction on importation of used vehicle. Japan cars have a unique identity among car lovers. Car from Japan is so popular that people from all over world used to import cars from Japan. The Turks and Caicos Islands is a British dependency, and is an associate member of CARICOM, and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). The Turks and Caicos Islands imports virtually all of its requirements.

Documents Required:

  • Title and Registration Certificate.
  • Purchase invoice.
  • Bill of Lading.
  • Driver’s License valid for 30 days until a local one is obtained.

Import Duties:

Import duty is generally between 25 percent – 45 percent.

Custom Charges:

  • Customs Processing Fee applies to all imports at a rate of 7.5 percent of the FOB value.
  • Customs duty on cars varies according to engine capacity 25 percent up to 2,000 CC., 35 percent up to 4000 CC. and 45 percent if over 4000 CC. On motorcycles, duty is charged at 25 percent up to 100 CC., 35 percent up to 250 CC. and 45 percent if over 250 CC.
  • Duty is levied on the assessed value of the vehicle and the shipping cost. Road surfaces are variable and the use of motorcycles is generally not recommended. The OBL must show Chassis Number.
