Shipping Ports:
Port of Guam is the only port of the Country.
Left-Hand Drive Vehicles:
Left Hand Drive Vehicles are allowed to be import in the country.
Documents Required:
- Certificate of Title and Registration - copies
- Bill of Lading
- Commercial/Purchase Invoice – must be original
- Insurance certificate
- Driver’s license – current copy
- DOT/EPA Form to be completed and signed by owner
Importing a Vehicle:
- All imported vehicles must meet US motor vehicle safety standards, Department of Transportation and Environmental Protection Agency standards.
- Failure to meet US emissions and safety standards can lead to cost prohibitive conversion costs as well as bonding and detention charges.
- Vehicles less than three months old are subject to import tax of 4%.
Note- A non-US resident can import a vehicle for a period of up to 1 year as a tourist, but no extension will be allowed. The importer is required to obtain a permission letter prior to shipping the vehicle from the EPA
Duties and Taxes:
Used vehicles are traded all over the world but it is governed by a specific set of legal binding and obligations. There is an additional amount of money which adds up to the total cost of ownership as a result of import duties and taxes. Every country follows its unique set of vehicle trade policies and regulations that are mandatory to follow.
- Procession fee of $5 is applicable on used vehicles.
- Use tax of 4% is applicable on used vehicles.
