Shipping Ports:

The most common port for shipping of vehicles in Gambia is Banjul.

Inspection

Inspection on the used vehicle is required before importing it in Gambia. Importer should provide original or certified copy of the vehicle inspection certificate from the country of origin.

Left-Hand Drive Vehicles:

Left Hand Drive Vehicles are allowed to be import in the Country. Right hand vehicles are prohibited. All right hand drive vehicles are not allowed for registration unless they are for special purpose.
Duty rates on importation of vehicle depend upon the class of the vehicle one is importing


Documents Required:

  • Purchase Invoice.
  • Original Bill of Lading.
  • Certificate of Ownership (indicating chassis number, year, model, engine number).
  • A legal conveyance certificate.
  • Drivers License.
  • Original Commercial Invoice.
  • Import Declaration Form obtained from Customs.
  • Authentic Original Logbook from country of origin.
  • International Insurance Policy.

Import Duty and VAT:

  • Import Duty: 25% of the CIF value of the vehicle
  • Excise Duty: 20% of the (CIF value + Import Duty)
  • VAT: 16% of the (CIF value + Import Duty + Excise Duty)
