Shipping Ports:

Provide Cars exports into all the major ports of Bermuda (Freeport, Hamilton and St George). The general shipping method is RORO (roll-on, roll-off) although the more expensive shipping method of containers can be arranged on request.

Pre-shipping requirements:

No extra inspections are required after purchasing and before exporting to Bermuda. Provide Cars arranges the standard export procedures (deregistration/export certificate) for Bermudan customers.

 

Importing is a regulatory process, each country has its own rules and regulation regarding this. These rules are based on the type of terrain, roads of the concern country and environment. Before importing any vehicle into Bermuda, you need to contact Transport Control Department (TCD) of the specific make and model, vehicle specifications including length and width, weights, engine size and horsepower to approve the import.

  • Maximum length of 175 inches
  • Maximum width of 71 inches
  • Maximum engine capacity of 2,500 cubic centimeters

Exemption from duty when moving to Bermuda:

The returning residents and non-residents at certain circumstances may be entitled to duty free on their used motor vehicle. If you are a returning resident you will need proof that you have been living overseas for more than one year.

If you are shipping your used car from overseas and claiming relief, you will need a copy of your Transfer of Residence Certificate. You must ask a customs officer for this certificate at the airport, when you arrive to take up residence. There is no fee for the certificate. This certificate is processed immediately.
