Shipping Ports:
Provide Cars exports into all the major ports of Bermuda (Freeport, Hamilton and St George). The general shipping method is RORO (roll-on, roll-off) although the more expensive shipping method of containers can be arranged on request.
Pre-shipping requirements:

Before importing a vehicle:
Before importing any vehicle into Bermuda, you need to contact Transport Control Department (TCD) of the specific make and model, vehicle specifications including length and width, weights, engine size and horsepower to approve the import.
Documents Required:
You must provide the following documents before you import a vehicle
- Bill of Sale
- Certification of Title
- Overseas vehicle registration (private cars or motorcycles) or a letter of approval for import (motor taxis)
- Owner’s handbook and vehicle brochure
- Emissions Certificate

- Maximum length of 175 inches
- Maximum width of 71 inches
- Maximum engine capacity of 2,500 cubic centimeters
- Maximum power to weight ratio of 10.5 kilograms per kilowatt
Bermuda Tariffs:
- For the collection of custom tariffs the Bermuda uses the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System 2012.

- Vehicles principally designed for the transport of goods are normally dutiable at 33.5 percent. The duty on motorcycles is 33.5 percent.
Weekly exchange rates for Importer:
All importers must use the current exchange rates for the conversion of foreign currency into terms of Bermuda dollars when determining the customs value of goods imported during the period indicated.
Exemption from duty when moving to Bermuda:
The returning residents and non-residents at certain circumstances may be entitled to duty free on their used motor vehicle. If you are a returning resident you will need proof that you have been living overseas for more than one year.
If you are a first-time resident, you will need
- Proof that you have permission to live in Bermuda (work permit, spousal letter etc).
- Proof that your vehicle are older than six months if claiming relief.
If you are shipping your used car from overseas and claiming relief, you will need a copy of your Transfer of Residence Certificate. You must ask a customs officer for this certificate at the airport, when you arrive to take up residence. There is no fee for the certificate. This certificate is processed immediately.
